California Trip

Ella had her first trip to the beach! We left Thursday afternoon for Laguna Beach. The Nixon family celebrated Lindsay's graduation and BJ's wedding. It was a fun-filled weekend. Of course, I forgot to pack Ella's swim suits, so she had to go to the beach in her tank tops and shorts. She didn't seem to mind.

She didn't know what to think of the water at first, but when she saw Mommy and Daddy get excited about it, she changed her mind. Then, we couldn't keep her out of the water! She also enjoyed feeding the seagulls and playing in the sand. She would squeal with delight when one of them would pick up the bread she threw for them.

Hello Everyone,



I wanted to let you all know that we are having to do some tests on Ella’s kidneys. As most of you know, when I was pregnant we found out that one of her kidney's was enlarged. Last week, she had a diaper “blow-out” at school. It was pee and not poop, then her teacher mentioned that she has at least one wet diaper an hour, so we decided to call the doctor. Randy took her in on Tuesday for a urinalysis and blood work. All of that came back clear (no infection present). Wednesday, she had an ultrasound and we found out yesterday that both of her kidney’s are slightly enlarged. Her doctor recommended that we do another test. This time it’s a dye test, a bit more invasive, but will give us a better idea of what’s going on and how to further treat her. The test is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM at Children's Imaging Center. Unfortunately, her doctor had left for the day yesterday and is on vacation for the next week, so all of our questions will have to wait until then!

Ella is growing fast! She took a few steps last week and can walk holding only one of your hands. She is very active, loves playing with Luke and destroying tissue boxes!!

Randy's birthday weekend

Friday night we had my office holiday party. We had a great time! On Saturday, Randy and I drove to Salado for the weekend. We walked around the town of Salado and then drove to Temple that night for a movie. We woke up early Sunday morning and I took Randy to get his birthday present. As we drove up to the site, I asked him if he knew what he was doing for his birthday. Just as he was about to say no, the sun moved and he read the sign that said 'Skydive Temple'. Yes, we both jumped out of a plane yesterday morning in the freezing weather. It was the most amazing experience and we can't wait to do it again!
